S Voice gives the Galaxy Core voice command functionality.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Coming to AT&T and US Cellular in April

Fri, 03/29/2013 - 14:33 -- Sammy Snyder

Both AT&T and US Cellular will open pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 on April 16th. AT&T announced the GS4 from Samsung will be priced at $250 with a two year contract. US Cellular did not announce pricing, but the regional carrier did open a page for customers to register for a pre-order reminder.

CEO John Legere mentioned the GS4 will be available though T-Mobile around May 1st. T-Mobile has stopped subsidizing phones, meaning customers will have to pay full price for the flagship Samsung handset. However, this also means T-Mobile subscribers will not have to agree to a two-year contract. T-Mobile did not mention how much the Galaxy S4 will cost, but the carrier is selling the iPhone 5 for $99 with 24 monthly payments of $20 (or $580 over two years). T-Mobile is also offering the Blackberry Z10 for $532 ($99 down / 24 monthly payments of $18). It is safe to assume that the GS4 will feature a similar pricing plan.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Coming to T-Mobile in May

Tue, 03/26/2013 - 14:45 -- Alex Gardner

While T-Mobile mostly focused on Apple's iPhone at its "Uncarrier" event in New York on Tuesday, T-Mobile CEO John Legere did mention the Galaxy S4 from Samsung will be available around "May 1st". T-Mobile will offer the GS4, iPhone 4/4S/5, HTC One and BlackBerry Z10 without any contracts. Customers will be able to buy any of the smartphones with a small down payment, and make additional monthly payments until the device is paid off. For example, you can nab an iPhone 5 for $100 and pay $20 a month for the next two-years. The $20 payments will be added on top of your normal service plan. It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One will cost around the same amount.

All new phones will be sold locked, so customers will need T-Mobile's help if they want to move their phone to a different carrier. Customers who opt to leave T-Mobile early will need to keep making monthly payments until the device is paid off. Those looking to upgrade to a newer model can keep paying for the older device, or trade it in for "fair market credit".

Things don't really kick off until around the 41 minute mark, so make sure you jump ahead. The full video is after the break.

Galaxy S4 Too Big For MWC, Samsung Announces Separate Event

Mon, 02/25/2013 - 12:37 -- Sammy Snyder

Samsung has sent out invites for a special press event in New York City on March 14. The invite's tagline reads: "Ready 4 the Show"-- insinuating Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy S4. Many expected Samsung to announce the S3's successor at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, but the S4 has outgrown the event.

Samsung decision not to unveil the Galaxy S4 at MWC allows companies like Huawei, Nokia, and Blackberry to soak up more of the spotlight for their newly announced devices. HTC also chose to hold a separate event for its HTC One smartphone prior to MWC.

Samsung's First Quarter Roadmap Doesn't Mention Galaxy S4

Tue, 01/22/2013 - 15:17 -- Alex Gardner

Samsung's Q1 roadmap for 2013 mentions the previously confirmed Galaxy Note 8.0, the Galaxy Xcover 2, Galaxy Pocket Plus and the entry-level Galaxy Young, but no Galaxy S4. Samsung Mobile vice president JK Shin confirmed earlier this week that Samsung plans to unveil the new 8-inch Galaxy Note tablet at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. It was also rumored that a Galaxy S4 announcement was coming soon, but according to the leaked Q1 roadmap obtained by TechnoBuffalo, that's not the case. I wouldn't worry too much about the absence of the Galaxy S4, this is most likely just Samsung's Mobile World Conference lineup. The S4 warrants its own separate event.

Samsung Q1 Rodamap 2013

You can see from the leaked document that the Galaxy Note 8.0 specs pretty much matches what we've previously heard. The complete rumored specs for the Note include: An 8-inch display with 1280×800 resolution, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 4,600 mAh battery, S Pen, 5MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

The update also brings some camera enhancements including Low Light Photo Mode and Easy Mode.

Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung Galaxy S III users can expect to start receiving the OTA update starting as early as today. Large OTA updates are known to take some time, so it's likely not every Sprint customer will receive the update right away. The full press release and changelog is available after the jump.
