Motorola Fixes DROID RAZR Connectivity Issues With New Software Update

Motorola rolled out a new software update for the DROID RAZR on Monday. The update fixes a few bugs and includes an important improvement for 3G/4G data connectivity. The RAZR and Verizon Galaxy Nexus have recently been suffering from unexplained signal problems. This update should fix the issue for RAZR owners. Verizon is also currently working on a fix for the Galaxy Nexus.

RAZR users should start seeing OTA updates starting today. If you do not want to wait, you can update your phone manually by going to menu > settings > about phone > check for updates. Check out the complete list of changes and fixes below.

LG Optimus LTE Headed To America?

LG is expected to announce the LG Nitro HD on December 1st. The Nitro HD is the American version of the Canadian LG Optimus LTE.

According to Phandroid, an invite they received from LG did not mention any particular phone, but the file name read "LG Nitro." This lead them to believe the new phone will be announced next month, but nothing has been confirmed.

All Verizon, Sprint and AT&T Smartphones Only a Penny Until November 28

All phones from Verizon, Sprint and AT&T (except the iPhone) are on sale from Amazon for a penny starting November 21 to November 28. That's right, smartphones like the Motorola Droid RAZR, BlackBerry Torch 4G and the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G are basically free to all customers who agree to a new two-year service contract.

Amazon is also offering a $100 gift card to customers who purchase an additional mobile hotspot service along with their new phone. This has to be one of the best pre-Black Friday deals out there.

Motorola Droid RAZR Allows Pre-installed Apps to be Hidden or Uninstalled

Verizon and Motorola added a simple way to keep your Droid RAZR's app tray uncluttered. The device allows you to hide or trash pre-installed apps pretty easily. According to Phandroid's RAZR review, apps can be grouped, added to your homescreen or hidden by holding on an application while viewing the app tray. The banished apps can be found later under the "Hidden Apps" button on the menu screen. Bloatware like Let's Golf 2 and Madden 12 can also be removed by using the same technique.

Will My Android Device Get Ice Cream Sandwich? [Android 4.0]

It's time to revisit which devices will be getting Android 4.0 now that the OEMs have had a chance to mull it over. Motorola was the first to confirm that the Droid RAZR, Droid Bionic and all three Xoom tablets will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012.

Asus also released a statement about the Eee Pad Family getting an upgrade. So far the Transformer Prime, Eee Pad Transformer and Padfone have been confirmed. Motorola and Asus have not officially denied any devices at the time of this post.

The Motorola Droid RAZR is finally available for pre-order from Verizon Wireless starting today. The super thin handset (7.1mm) is $299.99 with a two year contract. If features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture and stabilization.

The RAZR ships with Android 2.3.5, but Motorola has promised an Android 4.0 upgrade in 2012. Other specs and features include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, support for 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and up to 32GB of memory.

Verizon Leaks Possible Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date

Verizon officially confirmed what we already knew. They will be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Nexus... But when? A leaked screenshot of a Verizon MAP shows the release date of November 10. As you can see from the image below, it also shows the Droid RAZR listed with its pre-order date of Oct 27.

If the MAP is correct, then it looks like you can expect Galaxy Nexus pre-orders to begin in early November or on November 10. You can also see the rumored $300 price tag for the 16GB model looks to be accurate. Still no word on how much the 32GB model will cost yet.

Which Android Phones Are Getting Ice Cream Sandwich? [Android 4.0]

Now that Google has finally announced their new operating system, Android fans are wondering which devices will be receiving an Ice Cream Sandwich update. Motorola is looking out for their Droid customers by promising an Android 4.0 ugrade for the Droid Bionic and RAZR in 2012. Google's Gabe Cohen said the Nexus S and One will also be running ICS in the future. Cohen also added that Ice Cream Sandwich "should work for any 2.3 device." Good news for Gingerbread owners.

We should know more once Google shares the final code with manufacturers. Right now most are being hesitant to release any details or timeframes until then.

Motorola announced their new faster, thinner, smarter, stronger Verizon smartphone today. The Motorola Razr is thinner as promised, or as Motorola put it, "impossibly" thin at 7.1 millimeters. The kevlar fibers, Gorilla Glass and water repellent nanocoating keeps the phone safe from scratches and dangerous party fouls. Under the hood the Razr boasts a 1.2 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, and it's powered by Android 2.3.5.

The Razr features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video capture and stabilization capabilities, front-facing HD camera for video chatting, Bluetooth 4.0, and 32GB of memory. The RAZR is also 4G LTE capable.

Motorola launched an online campaign involving 16 sites to promote their new Droid Razr which they plan to announce on Tuesday. It involved some tedious process of entering codes to unlock a piece of a puzzle, but thankfully Droid Life saved us all some time and sanity by just publishing the image.

The picture backs up Motorola's claim that the device will be "thinner," and gives us a glimpse of the kevlar backing. The image also shows the Verizon logo, side lock switch and new Droid eye. The Droid Razr is rumored to be faster than the iPhone 4S, and to feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 4.3-inch display.
