Fuhu Introduces Affordable Tablet for Tweens: Cartman Does Not Approve!

Wed, 12/12/2012 - 09:49 -- Marshall Walker

I thought all kids wanted an iPad for Christmas, but Fuhu begs to differ, rolling out an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet geared towards "tweens". The nabi XD tablet is an "ultraportable" notebook / tablet PC with a 10.1-inch, 1,366 x 768 IPS display and NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad- core processor. It features front and rear facing cameras, NFC technology and up to 10 hours of battery life. Not bad for only $249 for the 16GB model and $349 for the 32GB model. However, this keeps reminding me of the South Park episode where Cartman's mom can't afford an iPad.

The 10.1-inch nabi XD will be available late December in limited release and mid- January nationwide. Read on for the full press release.

Google previewed Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) at its 2012 keynote in San Francisco, California on Wednesday. Here's some of the key improvements and upgrades announced at the event.

Google I/O

According to Google, Android 4.1 will feature faster performance times, improved scrolling, and smoother page transitions by harnessing the power of the bigger and badder quad-core processors being used in newer devices. Android 4.1 will also arrange onscreen icons and resize any widgets you decide to place on your home screen.
