Pictures of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in its final retail packaging has Android fans hoping the rumored December 9th release date is true. Someone posted four photos of the highly anticipated device and its box on the XDA forums. Even better, a "reliable" Phandroid tipster said the Galaxy Nexus is headed to Verizon stores this week.
Previous Verizon leaks and false tips promising a November launch have already let us down, and the XDA pictures haven't been confirmed as real... Meaning, I wouldn't get my hopes up until we hear something official, but a release before this weekend does seem possible.
The Galaxy Nexus is the first phone to run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It features a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a button-less front. It's powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor and ships with a 5-megapixel camera with HD 1080p video recording capability.
