MSI Android Tablet to Launch at $500

Micro-Star International (MSI) is developing a 10-inch touch screen Android tablet they say will launch in the second half of 2010 starting at $500. The device features full multitasking with a quick NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.

The tablet's name has not been announced yet, however the product will come in a variety of configurations and feature wireless communications capabilities. Prototypes are light and slim, and the Android product is bound to compete with Apple's iPad.

Speaking of Android, the OS is about to get full Flash support, and the Tegra 2 processor is optimized for Adobe Flash 10.1 video streaming, web browsing, HD video encoding and decoding, and 3D gaming.

The screen on the tablet pictured appears to be sized for a film aspect ratio, perfect for watching HD movies (16:9). Details have yet to be released about the specifications such as battery life, screen resolution, and available memory configurations. MSI could take the market by storm at a $500 price point with a polished UI, especially if the tablet includes USB and HDMI ports and an SD card slot.

MSI is better known for its products in Asia, but it appears to be taking direct aim at Apple's recently-announced iPad tablet computer in North America.
