Major Nook Color Update Arrives, Turns eReader into Tablet

Last month, Barnes & Noble announced that a big update was coming to the Nook Color. The update was scheduled to bring Adobe Flash, enhanced browsing, app support, and more. A little less than a month later, that update has arrived, and Nook Color owners or prospective buyers now have a considerable tablet for a reasonable $249.

The update is available now by manually downloading and updating the Nook Color, or can be had as an OTA (over-the-air) update sometime next week. If you're currently a Nook Color owner, chances are you'll want to follow the download link previously mentioned and take advantage of all the new features the update brings.

As the title indicates, this update has brought the Nook Color from e-reader status to tablet status. Included in the Android 2.2 (Froyo) based update are features such as Adobe Flash support, enhanced browsing, improved performance, ability to read and manage multiple email accounts, support for an app store debuting with over 125 paid and free apps, the NOOK Kids read and play system and enhancements to the magazine reading capabilities of the NOOK.

And yes, Angry Birds is available.
