Tablet and smartphone users with Android 3.0+ can now access SRI's 2D video stabilization software for better video chats and conferences on Google Talk. The new software eliminates shaky picture quality when video chatting on the go.

The 2D video stabilization compresses images captured on a device's front-facing camera before transmitting them. This allows the bandwidth to increase with the amount of motion in the scene thus eliminating shaky or broken images. This is the same technology used by SRI Ventures to eliminate problems for surveillance videos in the early 1990s. The 2D video stabilization software compensates for motion in a video to allow a device to keep the focus on a person's face.

If you like to "walk and talk," but hate poor picture quality, SRI's 2D video stabilization will solve your problem. Integrating the new software will make office video conferences, or chatting while you hit the treadmill, a whole lot smoother.
