Google Nexus One / HTC Nexus One

Released on January 5, 2010, the Google Nexus one is the current "king" of Android phones. The Nexus one is available unlocked directly from Google for $579 for use on any GSM provider (although the Nexus One does not support UMTS 3G bands of 850 MHz and 1900 MHz), or through T-Mobile in the US at a subsidized price of $179. A Verizon Wireless (US) and Vodaphone (UK) version is expected in mid-2010.

HTC Droid Eris / Verizon Droid Eris

The HTC Droid Eris is essentially a modified version of the HTC Hero and was released on November 6, 2009. Also known as the second Android phone on the Verizon Wireless network, the Droid Eris offers a slimmer design and does not have a slide-out physical keyboard. A subsidized price of $99 set a record as the least expensive Android phone to hit the market.

T-Mobile G1 / HTC Magic

Released on October 22, 2008, the T-Mobile G1 has been referred to as the Googlephone since rumors of its existence surfaced in 2006. Being the first commercially available phone to run Google's Android operating system, the handset was originally shipped with Android 1.0. The handset features a physical keyboard and was launched contract-free at $399 or for a subsidized price of $129.99.

HTC Hero / Sprint Hero

Sprint released their first Android device, the HTC Hero, on October 11, 2009. The phone's exterior was redesigned after HTC released a similar model (G2 Touch) in Europe. The HTC Droid Eris on the Verizon network is also a modification of the Hero. With rebates and a two-year service agreement the Hero launched at $179.99.

HTC Magic / T-Mobile myTouch 3G

Released by T-Mobile on August 5, 2009, the myTouch 3G is manufacturer HTC's second Android phone. The device was preceded by the T-Mobile G1 and has a touch-screen keyboard. T-Mobile offered the myTouch 3G for pre-order in July 2009 at a subsidized price of $199.99. Vodafone retains exclusive rights to sell the European version of the handset (HTC Magic) in the markets it serves.

ICD Ultra

Innovative Converged Devices (ICD) is currently testing its Ultra tablet. The device includes a Motorola 4G modem for high-speed LTE connectivity and streaming HD video. Verizon Wireless announced it will provide data service for the Ultra as its LTE network is rolled out. ICD intends to bring the touch-screen Android device to market via Motorola for around $249 with a release possible in late 2010.

Motorola Droid

The Motorola Droid, released on November 6, 2009, is the first Android phone to be offered on the Verizon Wireless network. The device features a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen display, more than double the number of pixels of its leading competitor. With a two-year contract, the Droid runs $199.99 after rebates. Droid includes a slide-out physical keyboard and is the first phone to ship with Android 2.0.

Motorola CLIQ / Motorola DEXT

Launched on November 2, 2009, the Motorola CLIQ is only compatible with T-Mobile's 3G UMTS network. This handset features MOTOBLUR, running on Android 1.5, which allows the user to receive continuous updates on the home screen from several social networking sources such as Facebook, Twitter, email and other widgets. CLIQ launched at a subsidized price of $200. The European version (DEXT) is offered by Orange UK.

Samsung Behold II

Samsung Behold II, T-Mobile's fourth Android phone, was released on November 18, 2009. Samsung has received mixed reviews on its TouchWiz user interface running on Android 1.5. One highlight of TouchWiz is a “cube menu," which provides instant access to six multimedia features. The device does not have a physical QWERTY keyboard and launched for a subsidized price of $249.99.

Samsung Moment

Released on November 1, 2009, the Samsung Moment is the second Android phone to be offered on the Sprint network. The device shipped with Android version 1.5 and features the first AMOLED touch screen on an Android phone in the US. Moment is expected to get an Android 2.1 update in the first half of 2010. The phone has a large QWERTY keyboard and goes for a subsidized price of $179.99 after rebates.
