HTC Introduces the Unlocked One Developer Edition

The upcoming launch of the HTC One brings good news for developers. HTC plans to release the Developer Edition of their flagship smartphone around the same time, with an unlocked SIM and bootloader.

The HTC One Developer Edition will be available in limited quantities to US customers at a price of $649. HTC is billing the Developer Edition as a "modern platform to build and test your apps". Whether or not the device comes with the clear back pictured remains to be seen.

HTC One Delayed Until April

An HTC rep has confirmed that shipments of the new flagship HTC One smartphone have been delayed. HTC now plans to push out pre-orders at the end of March followed by an April launch. HTC officially confirmed the shipping delay after it was rumored several UK retailers had adjusted their shipment date to March 29th. The HTC One was announced in early February with an expected March 15th launch, but an unknown problem has caused the original release date to be scrapped. Here is the official response from HTC:

"We will start fulfilling pre-orders by end March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April.”

Galaxy S4 Too Big For MWC, Samsung Announces Separate Event

Samsung has sent out invites for a special press event in New York City on March 14. The invite's tagline reads: "Ready 4 the Show"-- insinuating Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy S4. Many expected Samsung to announce the S3's successor at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, but the S4 has outgrown the event.

Samsung decision not to unveil the Galaxy S4 at MWC allows companies like Huawei, Nokia, and Blackberry to soak up more of the spotlight for their newly announced devices. HTC also chose to hold a separate event for its HTC One smartphone prior to MWC.

iPad mini Getting Pricier, 7-Inch Android Tablets Getting Cheaper

Apple is purportedly working on the second-generation iPad mini with Retina display... And if the rumors are correct, the new tablet will not only see a bump in resolution, but in price as well. The iPad mini is already one of the priciest 7-inch tablets on the market at $329, and the newly announced HP Slate7 will be one of the most affordable tablets in the near future.

HP unveiled the Android Jelly Bean Slate7 on Sunday. Weighing just 13 ounces, and starting at just $169, the Slate7 sounds like a great tablet to take on the road. The 7-inch tablet is powered by an ARM Dual Core Cortex-A9 1.6 GHz processor, and features a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a front-facing VGA camera for video chatting.

Lenovo Unveils Three New Tablets

Besides the already announced K900 phone, Lenovo is showing off three new tablets at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The S6000, or "Mobile Home Entertainment Center" is a 10-inch tablet geared towards entertainment and social media junkies. It features a 1,280 x 800 IPS display, MTK 8389/8125 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, optional HSPA+, and 8 hours of battery life.

The A3000 is a 7-inch tablet with a thin and light form factor (340g and is only 11mm thick). It features a 1.2GHz quad-core MTK processor, an IPS 1024 x 600 display and up to 64GB of expandable memory. Levono claims it offers a seamlessly fluid navigation and highly responsive performane while playing games, watching video, or photo-sharing.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is a Tablet, eReader and Phone

We already knew an 8-inch Note was coming since January, but Samsung made it official at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona over the weekend. Unfortunately Samsung didn't announce the only thing we didn't know, pricing and availability.

Samsung is touting the new mid-size Note as an all-in-one home companion. Not only does it replace the need for traditional pen and paper thanks to the S Pen, the Note is also an ereader, phone and TV remote! The Reading Mode is not only compatible with other third party ereader apps, but it controls the LCD display to make reading on the tablet easier on the eyes. The Note also offers a Smart Remote function for controlling other devices such as your TV or Blu-ray player.

The Mobile World Congress is ready to kick off on February 25th in Barcelona, Spain, and ASUS' "Ultimate Craftsmanship" teaser already has everyone talking. You can check out the 30-second video and a few other early press releases and leaks below.

LG Optimus F7 and Optimus F5: Specs are unknown at this time, but here is a purported early look at LG's Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 via @evleaks. LG also released a teaser image and video over the weekend.

HTC Officially Announces HTC One Flagship Smartphone

HTC officially announced its new flagship HTC One smartphone at two simultaneous events in London and New York on Tuesday, February 19th. The HTC One is one of the first smartphones to utilize Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. It sports a Gorilla Glass 2 protected 4.7-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display and a machined aluminum shell. It weighs 143 grams and measures at 5.4 (137.4mm) x 2.7 (68.2mm) x 0.37 (9.3mm) inches.

There are dual stereo speakers with a dedicated proprietary amp designed for reducing distortion, and two capacitive buttons (back and home) positioned on the front of the device. There is also a 2.1 MP front-facing camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens capable of capturing 1080p video. On the back of the handset you'll find what HTC is calling the "UltraPixel camera" and a single LED flash.

Black HTC One Leaked Before Big Announcement

HTC is expected to announce the HTC One (M7) smartphone along with the newest version of Sense on Tuesday February 19th. Below you can see an image of the black version which was leaked on Monday. An image of a silver/white model was also "leaked" earlier this month.

The black model's display shows the date February 19th and the location "New York". The white model shows the same date but displays "London" as its location instead. This is because HTC is holding two separate events in both cities on the 19th.

After waiting months for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 4 Bumper case to come back in stock, Android fans were a little nervous they would have to wait even longer for the Wireless Charger to arrive. Luckily, the Nexus 4 orb showed up pretty much on schedule, first at Puremobile, and now through Google Play.
