Google to Offer Stable of New Nexus Devices in 2012?
Submitted by Marshall Walker on Tue, 05/15/2012 - 19:29Google plans to team up with multiple OEMs to launch up to five unlocked "Pure Google" devices by Thanksgiving, according to the Wall Street Journal. The plan is to give multiple hardware makers access to Android 5.0 Jelly Bean to produce a stable of Nexus devices. Normally Google teams up with one manufacturer to produce "lead devices" before releasing the software to others.

The new Nexus lineup will then be sold directly from Google. The unlocked models will offer users more carrier selections, and put a stop to fears that Motorola Mobility will be favored because of the $12 billion Google acquisition.

Perhaps they are just trying to get a handle on which carrier would be the most in-demand once the GS3 officially launches?
